A few things to remember

Time

Your fitness is the product of your daily habits. Mentally and physically this is a long-term investment, it lasts a lifetime. It's never too late to start and the health benefits compound the longer you're in. So get going!

Positivity

I'm not going to be preachy about this. But if you can perform a squat you're in a better position than 20% of the population who physically can't. Add any more to that and the figures rise dramatically. This isn't to say "oh well I don't need to do more then" this is to say, you have the ability and you get to do it! So do it.

Addition

Exercise is supposed to be a positive addition to your life, not take time away and for you to resent it. Find a form of exercise that you love and jump into it. Finding something you love makes all the difference.

Keep it simple

There are so many options open to you out there. From Peloton to CrossFit, HIIT to bodybuilding. Each has their place each offers you "the best way". The only way is the way that works for you. If you love to run, then run - just add in a bit of resistance training to help with bones, aging and overall health. If you love to sweat, lift heavy and take your shirt off - CrossFit. But please know that there are so many different ways, boil it down to what you love and do more of it. Don't be duped by advertising.

80/20

The 80/20 rule is eating healthy 80% of the time and 20% not. This is a pretty common "rule" in the industry. Yet it's way easy said than done. In actual fact it looks like 50-50, 20-80 or 90-10. It fluctuates. Just make sure you have more good than bad consistently.

6-pack

The cover of health magazines. The physique competitor on stage and the incredibly lean person you see on Instagram all have one thing in common. They aren't at peak health. Being like that means you are on an incredibly strict diet. You're almost certainly missing out on every social situation imaginable and you're grumpy as hell. Women will often be missing their periods and struggling with hormones.

Don't believe the hype, looking like that is physically very taxing on the body.
